On January 21, 2017, a supporter of Keke Palmer tweeted a snapshot of her being featured in singer Trey Songz new music video. The problem is Palmer didn’t authorize Songz to include her in a cameo, and took to social media to share her thoughts. Thus, creating an uproar between the two artist on social media that has yet to be resolved. Some question why Keke didn’t personally call Trey and hash out their issue in private. Surely this whole situation is just a misunderstanding and with a phone call everything would have been squashed. Wrong. Keke addressed these counterarguments via social media and says Trey knew she didn’t want to be included during several different moments of the incident. “This is preposterous. How am I in this video Trey? After you found me in a closet HIDING because I was so afraid of anymore conflict. Literally my last option was to hide because you all would not listen when I said I did not want to be in the video the FIRST time. Just because you give someone food and alcohol and throw in a little sexual intimidation doesn't mean they will buckle,” Keke wrote on Instagram. Why shouldn’t Keke voice her outrage publicly since the video wasn’t released privately? Why is it that women always have to take the hits as if we can’t square up and fight back too? As the Women’s Marches raised in the streets all across the world, no more are women being compliant and non-confrontational. As a supporter of Keke, I’ve always admired her confidence and daring personality. She’s come into her own and is unabashedly living her truth. No longer is she the hot-headed, antsy pre-teen portrayed on Akeelah and the Bee and the many other films she’s done. KeKe Palmer has a voice, and you will hear it. No simply means no. I do hope both parties involved can become amicable, but this feud will last a little longer. It’s just best to always respect a person’s wishes because their choices always belong to them. Check out Keke’s visit on The Wendy Williams show as she addresses the matter (skip to 3:04 for the Trey Songz conversation) : **Editors Note; Keke Palmer and Trey Songz have since come to an agreement on the situation.
