All of our goals and aspirations are usually in the pursuit of happiness, but this process can actually do more harm than good. In reality, we will never reach a true state of consistent happiness. Our existence is incessantly accompanied by inevitable stress. Life can be happy, but it can also be painful. Instead of seeking this unrealistic mindset of happiness, we must appreciate life as it is and the happy moments that have the ability to pass us by. One of the main deterrents from happiness is stress. Let anything that is bothering you go! Ask yourself: Will this matter a day from now? A week? A month? A year? At times the situation is not as significant as we make it up to be. It is important when feeling glum in response to an unpleasant occurrence that we do not allow it to occupy our mind for the remainder of the day, or even week. In this case, we can consider the advice of the author Eckhart Tolle, “When you com plain you you make yourself a victim. Leave the situation, change the situation or accept it, all else is madness.” This can also be applied to the reliviation of overbearing stress. When we accept the past, there are no restrictions to our future. Live minimalistic. We must focus on what we have in life and not on what we do not have. It is easy to compare yourself to the next person in terms of belongings, but we will never obtain all that we desire. There will always be something more. Besides, material items are temporary, but experiences are everlasting. We can expose ourselves to the most life-changing experiences by just trying new things.
